Although pancreaticopleural fistulae (internal pancreatic fistulae) resulting from disruption of the pancreatic duct or pseudocysts are known complications of pancreatitis, their incidence is unknown. The presence of such flstulae is suggested by amylase-rich massive hemorrhagic pleural effusions sometimes associated with pancreatic ascites and exhibiting a strong tendency to recur. The essential objectives of initial management are to drain the pleural fluid and to reduce

Recurrent non-aneurysmal, metastatic intraparenchymal haemorrhages following resection of atrial myxoma - case report and literature review.

Atrial myxomas are the commonest cardiac neoplasms. The most common extra-cardiac manifestations are embolic infarcts from tumour embolisation. Infrequently, aneurysm formation and intracranial haemorrhages also occur. Incredibly rare are space-occupying lesions and malignant transformation. The authors report a case of a previously healthy middle-aged lady who developed recurrent and expanding...

Left atrial myxoma with multiple cerebral infarcts and multiple intracranial aneurysms

Atrial myxomas are benign tumors, and most of them are located in the left atrium. Left atrial myxoma commonly leads to cerebral embolic ischemic stroke. The intracranial aneurysm is rarely associated with myxoma. There are few reports about left atrial myxoma leading simultaneously to both anterior and posterior circulation infarction, and multiple intracranial saccular aneurysms. Now we repor...

Only isolated few cases of intracranial myxoma are reported in the literature, almost all were locally confined within the originating bone. The extensive Pu...

Intracranial aneurysm disappeared after resection of a cardiac myxoma.

A 67-year-old male was diagnosed as myxoma-related cerebral aneurysm. Transthoracic echocardiogram showed a large mass in the left atrium and pathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of myxoma. Cerebral magnetic resonance angiography revealed an aneurysm in the right internal carotid artery. However, the aneurysm was disappeared amazingly after successful resection of cardiac mass. There a...
